1. Introduction

This privacy policy describes how ClipBolt, a Chrome browser extension developed and published by DavSoft, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. ClipBolt is a clipboard manager that helps you store and manage your clipboard history locally within your browser.

2. Data We Collect

ClipBolt collects and processes the following data solely to provide clipboard management functionality:

• Clipboard Content: Text, URLs, and other content you copy while using your browser.
• Clipboard History: A chronological record of your copied items with timestamps.
• User Preferences: Your settings for history length, formatting options, and display configuration.
• Favorites: Any clipboard items you mark as favorites for quick access.

We do not collect personally identifiable information, browsing history, keystrokes, or usage analytics of any kind.

3. How Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local). Your clipboard history is never transmitted to any external servers operated by DavSoft or any third party.

If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your Google account, Chrome may synchronize extension storage data across your devices. This synchronization is managed entirely by Google and is subject to Google's privacy policy — DavSoft has no role in or access to this process.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or transmit any of your data to third parties. Since all data remains stored locally in your browser, DavSoft has no access to your clipboard history, preferences, or any other information generated by ClipBolt.

5. Third-Party Services

ClipBolt's core functionality operates entirely offline and does not connect to any external services.

If a premium subscription is offered in the future, payment processing would be handled by Stripe, Inc. In that case, your payment information would be collected and processed directly by Stripe under their own privacy policy. DavSoft would not have access to your full payment card details.

6. Permissions Justification

• clipboardRead / clipboardWrite: Required to read content you copy and to write clips back to your clipboard when you select them.
• storage / unlimitedStorage: Required to save your clipboard history and settings locally on your device.
• notifications: Used to notify you of certain clipboard events (optional, can be disabled).
• host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required for the content script that monitors copy events on web pages. The content script activates only when you perform a copy action — it does not read, log, or transmit any browsing data.

7. Data Security

Your data security depends on the security of your device, your user account, and Chrome's built-in extension storage mechanisms. We recommend:

• Using a strong device password or biometric lock.
• Being mindful that clipboard data may contain sensitive information such as passwords.
• Regularly clearing your clipboard history if it contains sensitive content.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Clipboard history is retained locally according to the limits you set in ClipBolt's settings (default: 50 entries on the free tier). You can delete individual clips or clear your entire history at any time from within the extension. Uninstalling the extension permanently removes all stored data.

9. Children's Privacy

ClipBolt is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used this extension, please contact us at support@davsoft.ai.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
